Plot[]

Kenshou with Ayame meeting Mumei

Kenshou welcoming Mumei to Aragane Station

He is present when the Koutetsujou arrives at Aragane Station early due to less stops as more stations are lost to the Kabane accompanied by his daughter Ayame greeting Mumei and Shimon as his guests, expressing intent for further talks at the mansion and exempting them from the Kabane inspections. As they leave a man suspected to be infected runs off the hayajiro and Kenshou orders his men to stop him, observing as Ikoma protests the paranoid treatment from the Bushi and rebukes the privilege he holds while under their protection once the man is killed. When Ikoma begins to approach he directs Kurusu and the other Bushi to detain Ikoma on suspicion of being a Kabane after seeing the Kabane samples he was carrying while teaching the importance of maintaining order as a Bushi's duty to Ayame[1].

Kenshou becoming a Kabane

Kenshou turned into a Kabane

Later he is seen discussing with Shimon and reacting with surprise when Aragane Station was breached due to a hayajiro overwhelmed by the Kabane rammed into the semi-closed bridge at full speed, realising the station was lost Kenshou set off to secure the Koutetsujou and told Ayame to follow when he gave a signal once it was clear. After not receiving a signal from Kenshou survivors of Aragane Station eventually headed for the Koutetsujou once Mumei had cleared a path. It is later revealed that Kenshou had been infected by the Kabane and was wandering the tracks when he was spotted by Kurusu and Ayame, the former ordering the train to continue on and smash the Kabane into pieces[2]; his broken remains are suspected of causing technical issues later in the Koutetsujou's journey[3].

Abilities[]

As the lord of Aragane Station it may be assumed that Kenshou had experience in leading large groups of people and maintaining order in the station as head of the Yomogawa family that is admired by many. It can also be reasoned that as head of the Bushi there he had some proficiency for combat shown by owning a steam gun that was submitted for repairs by Ayame[1] prior to the station's downfall and when he personally left to secure the Koutetsujou armed with two katanas at his side, seeming confident and unafraid that he would be successful despite the ongoing Kabane incursion.

Trivia[]

  • Possibly the crushed body that jammed the Koutetsujou, preventing it from running.
  • In episode 6, after the first jamming incident, it is speculated that a piece of his corpse after being run over jammed a gear shaft which prevented the Kotetsujou from accelerating.
